The ECPAT logo ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking)

ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking) UK is a UK children's rights organization that represents a coalition of nine UK organizations working on children's issues. These organisations are: Anti-Slavery International, Barnardo's, Jubilee Campaign, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, The Body Shop Foundation, The Children's Society, UNICEF UK, and World Vision UK. ECPAT UK was established in 1994 as The Coalition Against Child Prostitution in Tourism with a mandate to campaign against child sex tourism and lobby for laws and policies to protect children from sex tourism. As a result of these campaigns the UK Government introduced new legislation to prosecute UK nationals for abusing children abroad (1997). The 'Coalition' became the UK national representative of the international ECPAT network in 1997 and in July 2004 became a UK Registered Charity. (Charity number 1104948). ECPAT endorses the work of Child-Safe Travel-Safe.

In recent years ECPAT UK has been active in research, campaigning and providing policy advice on preventing child sex tourism and trafficking of children and is an active member of several multi-sectoral working groups including The Sex Tourism Task Force (which includes the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Home Office, National Criminal Intelligence Service, and Association of British Travel Agents).

The BASPCAN logo Baspcan (British Association for the Study and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect)

BASPCAN is a multi-professional, charitable association founded in 1979 with a current membership of almost 2000. It is the only multi-professional, national association, the aims and objectives of which concern the protection of children from significant harm and safeguarding and promoting their welfare. The Trustees of the Charity are the members of the National Executive Committee and reflect the multi-professional nature of the membership.

The Association arranges national conferences addressing topical issues, holds a National Congress, which has gained an international reputation, every three years, publishes a newsletter four times a year and a well-respected, peer-reviewed professional journal “Child Abuse Review” in six volumes each year. The national office in York provides a focus for professional networking. Local branches organise conferences and seminars and provide useful local networking for professional staff, independent of the agencies for which they work.

Members of the Association are from all professions involved and interested in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children. It has a strong emphasis on practice and making available high quality educational provision affordable to grass roots practitioners.
