'Community Transformers Fund'

Bristol Schools and Youth Organisations Community Transformers Project

Community Transformers was set up so that pupils from Bristol Secondary Schools and Youth Organisations could work with local communities and partners to address issues that are problematic for local residents and the school community alike.


Community Transformers aims to encourage young people to lead on solutions that reduce crime and antisocial behaviour, and improve safety and the local environment.


Community Transformers invites young people to apply for a grant of up to £1000 to help fund projects that will make positive changes in the local communities where their schools or youth organisations are situated.


Benefits


For the school:

  • Improve citizenship
  • Support the PSHE and school curriculum
  • Provide volunteering opportunities
  • Positive media opportunities
  • Develop project management and business skills
  • Support for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

For the community:

  • Better understanding of the school
  • Opportunity to work with the schools or youth organisations in the community
  • Positive messages about the whole community
  • Safer community

Criteria for applications

  • School must be in the Bristol area
  • School must lead the project and work with a local community to identify common problems / issues
  • School to work on solutions and produce projects and schemes that will address and tackle the identified problems
  • Must have a direct impact and benefit for partners
  • Looking for ideas that will really work
