How to motivate and engage students to become informed citizens

How to motivate and engage students to become informed citizens through interactive and proactive learning resources at KS3 and KS4

This course is for staff planning and delivering citizenship or PSHE at KS3 and 4.

The day will:

Enable teachers to deliver effectively the parliamentary and government strand of citizenship.

Support all 21 key Government citizenship topics of the curriculum.

How to involve young people to creatively generate ideas, solutions or projects.

How they could become involved and make a difference to their community.

This course is being led by Ian Baird. Ian has worked closely with schools and citizenship teachers in the South West. He has successfully delivered and promoted the “Get Savvy” resource pack to a cross-section of schools in the South West region.

Ian is a serving Police Sergeant with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary, working within the Community Safety Unit. He is a co-author of the original citizenship pack launched in the South West in 2002 as a Youth Watch product. He is an experienced presenter, writer and police schools liaison expert who is able to add significant value to the numerous usages of the “Get Savvy” resource.
