Paul Lillington - Director/Trustee

A photograph of Paul Lillington My name is Paul Lillington, I have spent most of my career with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary, 30 years of this working as a police officer in Bath, Bristol and various areas of Somerset. I also worked in the police Research and Development Department and in the latter years of my service I was Police Project Manager for the new Police Headquarters at Portishead, retiring as a Chief Inspector in 1997. This was followed by a further 12 years as their Force Business Liaison Manager, generating income for the Constabulary from business and other ethical sources, in support of projects that were over and above the core government provision.

I also assisted in setting up the Police Community Trust in 1999 and was Trust Manager until I retired in June 2009. In the 10 years since the Trust was formed, some £3m has been raised in support of numerous community projects as well as 5 major projects – the Bobby Van Scheme, Class Act in Schools, DAFF’s domestic violence helpline, Road Safety (including the Schools Walking Bus) and Local Education Centres in Bristol and Somerset.

Having now retired, I see my primary role as a Trustee of Child-Safe as one of working on a voluntary basis to assist in Board matters and fundraising in support of the key projects that do much to protect and advise children and young persons. In addition, I have recently been appointed as a volunteer Board member of West Country Crimestoppers (an independent charity) who do much good work to combat the fight against crime. I am also involved in community work with a small local Trust and a charitable organisation.
