Susan Goldstein

A photograph of Susan Goldstein

Susan Goldstein is the former Managing Director of the World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC). Under her eleven-year leadership, WYSTC has grown into becoming the premier annual global event for the youth, student and educational travel industry.

Susan joined FIYTO in 1999 as WYSTC Conference Director, later also assuming the position as Acting Director General of Federation of International Youth Travel Organisations (FIYTO). At the Federation, she was responsible for encouraging the strategic development of global alliances between travel industry specialists and for establishing new platforms for cooperation for the global trade association.

With the subsequent merger of FIYTO and the International Student Travel Confederation and the launch of the WYSE Travel Confederation, Ms Goldstein took up the role as Managing Director of the newly created event management company, WYSTC A/S organising both WYSTC, the signature event for the WYSE Travel Confederation, and creating the newer Work Experience Travel Market and IAPA Annual Conference.

Since the early 1980s, Susan Goldstein has enjoyed a career in the youth travel community. Initially at KILROY Travels International, she was responsible for developing several innovative business models, later adapted by the industry. Her time at KILROY served to trigger her genuine interest in youth travel. It was also during this period that Ms Goldstein first attended WYSTC and became actively involved in the work of FIYTO.

She has published several articles on youth, student and educational travel, lectures frequently, and is a recognised international authority on the industry. The British Educational Travel Association (BETA) and ITB Berlin – the world’s largest travel trade show, have both awarded Susan for her outstanding contributions and achievements in the industry.

Susan Goldstein is an American national, a graduate of the City College of New York with a degree in Political Science. She has lived and worked in Denmark since 1980.
