Letter of endorsement from James Gibson

A photograph of James Gibson receiving his Child-Safe in Sport and Organised Groups Information Pack from Councillor Ian Peddlesden, Chairman of North Somerset Council As a top class swimmer, I am very aware of the need to ensure that the children who are participating in sporting or other activities, both enjoy and at the same time feel safe from abuse, bullying or intimidation.

I was therefore very pleased to hear that North Somerset Sports Council has developed the 'Child-Safe Initiative' for clubs and organisations in their area. This initiative will encourage voluntary groups to develop their own 'safe' environment, where children can learn, play and have fun free from the threat of abuse.

I firmly believe that those who work with children must do everything they can to protect children from any risk or harm whilst in their care.

I offer North Somerset Sports Council my full support and wish the initiative every success.

Yours sincerely

James Gibson
